A Fitness Kickboxing Certification may be what you need to live you passion for fitness and kickboxing!
In this post, we will outline the steps to become a certified fitness kickboxing coach, including completing a fitness kickboxing certification, what to look for in an internship program, and what it would take to eventually run your own classes.
Complete a fitness kickboxing certification.
The first step to becoming a certified fitness kickboxing coach is to complete a recognized fitness kickboxing certification program. Look for reputable organizations that offer certifications specifically for fitness kickboxing. These programs typically provide comprehensive training on kickboxing techniques, teaching methods, class design, and safety guidelines. They may also cover topics such as anatomy, physiology, and nutrition to give you a well-rounded understanding of fitness and health.
When choosing a certification program, make sure to do your research and select one that is accredited by a reputable organization. Look for certifications that have a strong reputation in the fitness industry and are recognized by fitness facilities and employers. Some examples of well-known fitness kickboxing certifications include the NASM Mixed Martial Arts Conditioning Specialist (MMACS) certification, the ACE Group Fitness Instructor certification with a specialization in kickboxing or the Fight Fitness Academy Level 1 to 3 courses offered by Fight Fitness which are accredited through Can-Fit Pro.

Complete a 6-week internship program
After obtaining your fitness kickboxing certification, the next step is to gain practical experience by completing an internship program. An internship will allow you to apply the knowledge and skills you learned during your certification program in a real-world setting. Look for fitness facilities or gyms that offer internship programs specifically for kickboxing coaches.
Fight Fitness offers it’s own 6 Week Internship program for instructors that have at least their FFA (Fight Fitness Academy) Level 2 certification or martial arts experience.
During your internship, you will have the opportunity to observe and assist experienced kickboxing coaches, lead portions of classes, and gain hands-on experience in teaching kickboxing techniques, correcting form, and managing a group fitness setting. This practical experience will help you refine your coaching skills, develop your teaching style, and gain confidence in leading kickboxing classes.
Audition classes
Once you have completed your internship program, the final step to becoming a certified fitness kickboxing coach is to complete two audition classes. These classes will be your opportunity to demonstrate your skills as a kickboxing coach and show that you are capable of leading safe, effective, and engaging kickboxing classes.
During your audition classes, you will be expected to design and lead a kickboxing class that incorporates proper warm-up, technique instruction, skill development, and cool-down. You will also need to effectively communicate with participants, provide modifications for different fitness levels, and ensure the safety of all participants throughout the class.
Passing your audition classes will require you to demonstrate proficiency in kickboxing techniques, teaching skills, and class management. It may be helpful to practice and prepare thoroughly beforehand, and seek feedback from experienced coaches or mentors to further improve your skills.
Becoming a certified fitness kickboxing coach requires a combination of education, practical experience, and demonstration of coaching skills. By completing a fitness kickboxing certification, an internship program, and completing audition classes, you can obtain the necessary qualifications to pursue a rewarding career as a certified fitness kickboxing coach. So, lace up your gloves and get ready to inspire and motivate others to achieve their fitness goals through the exciting and empowering world of kickboxing!
