Her journey is one of resilience, commitment, and growth, both physically and mentally. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Frenielle to talk about her fitness experience, challenges, and achievements that led to her nomination for Fighter of the Year.
A Teacher with a Passion for Fitness
When Frenielle first joined Fight Fitness in January 2023, she was looking for a new approach to health and fitness. As a teacher with a busy schedule, staying active had been a challenge, especially after the pandemic disrupted her previously strong workout routine. Like many of us, Frenielle faced the struggle of finding motivation and the right environment to rekindle her passion for fitness.
“I used to be super active during the pandemic, but afterward, I got stuck in a sedentary lifestyle,” she shared. “I knew I needed something holistic, not just for my body, but for my mind and spirit as well.”
Kickboxing and Fit Classes: Finding the Right Mix
One thing that stands out about Frenielle is her enthusiasm for variety. She enjoys both kickboxing and fit classes, depending on her mood. The creative flow of kickboxing keeps her excited, while the structured nature of fit classes helps her stay focused. Whether it’s throwing superman punches, spin kicks, or back kicks, Frenielle loves the dynamic moves that keep her coming back for more.
“I really love the variety in kickboxing, but on other days, I need the focus of a fit class,” Frenielle said. “It’s all about balance and listening to what your body needs.”
A Holistic Approach: Body, Mind, and Spirit
What really set Frenielle’s story apart was her holistic approach to fitness. Beyond the physical workouts, she’s embraced a mindful lifestyle, incorporating meditation into her daily routine. Frenielle recognized the connection between mental and physical health, and it’s been a game-changer for her well-being.
“Through Fight Fitness, I’ve not only found strength physically, but also mentally. Meditation has been such a helpful practice for me to reset and stay focused,” she said. “Fitness is more than just exercise. It’s about the whole package—nutrition, mindset, and taking care of your spirit.”
Focusing on Abilities, Not Limitations
During our conversation, Frenielle shared an important mantra that keeps her going through tough workouts: focusing on what you can do instead of what you can’t. This positive mindset has helped her push past barriers and avoid getting discouraged by temporary setbacks.
“I think we get caught up in what we can’t do, but it’s so important to focus on what we can do,” she said. “I’ve worked with Chris on finding creative workout solutions, and it’s made all the difference. It’s not about limitations—it’s about possibilities.”
Recognition and Gratitude
As our Fighter of the Month, Frenielle has earned her place among the most dedicated and consistent members of Fight Fitness. Her perseverance and positive outlook make her an inspiration to others in the community. She also recently won $100 at our last Champion’s Challenge, a reward for her commitment to showing up and giving her best.
When I asked about her thoughts on being named Fighter of the Month, she expressed her gratitude.
“I was nervous about this call, but I’m really thankful for the recognition and the support from the entire Fight Fit community,” she said. “This gym has helped me in more ways than I could’ve imagined, and I’m so grateful.”
Looking Ahead: Fighter of the Year
With her Fighter of the Month title, Frenielle is now in the running for the Fighter of the Year award, which will be announced at our gala on December 7th. As we wrapped up our conversation, I could see that Frenielle’s journey is far from over. She’s just getting started, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for her.
