Dragon of the Month: Sumina | Fight Fitness Markham

Sumina represents controlled execution. She removed noise, fixed inputs, and built a system that produces consistent output.

About Sumina

Sumina is a coach at Fight Fitness and a full-time software engineer. She started her fitness journey over six years ago, shifting from general exercise to structured strength training. That shift turned into a career—earning her Personal Training Specialist (PTS) certification through CanFitPro and CPR-A certification.

Her edge is not time availability. It’s constraint management. She runs a demanding career and still executes at a high level physically. Her standard: fitness is non-negotiable.

Her coaching philosophy is simple—build sustainable habits, develop mental resilience, and make performance repeatable.

Biggest Training Mistake

Overdoing cardio while under-eating.

Short-term effect: scale dropped.
Actual outcome: energy crashed, recovery slowed, metabolism adapted down.

Correction:

  • Reduced unnecessary cardio volume

  • Implemented progressive strength training

  • Tracked macros with precision

Result: stable energy, improved strength, and controlled fat loss.

Non-Fitness Obsession

Sleep discipline.

  • In bed before 10:30 PM

  • No screens 30 minutes before sleep

  • Reading or podcasts replace scrolling

This is not preference. It’s a fixed variable that supports performance.

Current Performance Goal

3-month body recomposition target:

  • Drop 4–5% body fat (≈5.5–6.5 lbs)

  • Maintain or improve strength on key lifts

  • Increase cardiovascular capacity for longer kickboxing sessions

  • Reduce fatigue under sustained output

No compromise between strength and conditioning.

Quote She Lives By

“Discipline > Motivation.”

Execution is pre-decided. Tasks are written the night before and completed regardless of mood. No reliance on motivation cycles.

Operating Standard

Most people:

  • Train inconsistently

  • Eat reactively

  • Sleep last

She operates differently:

  • Training is programmed

  • Nutrition is tracked

  • Sleep is protected

That is why progress compounds.
